Filigree Twist Foglio - Black Color:White Suitable for holding waterThis blown glass vessel from Patchen's "Foglio" series is created with the cane technique. To make cane, Patchen encases a rod of white glass in molten clear glass then it is stretched 50 60 feet long, reducing its diameter to about the thickness of a pencil. After cooling, the long rod is cut into 6" lengths, reheated and rolled onto a molten glass bubble on a blowpipe. Closing the end creates a striped bubble which Patchen can then twist and
